A local Heritage in Craftsmanship & Woodworking

In 1971, the business started as a small “mom and pop” shop primarily performing furniture refinishing in rural Kentucky. Then in 1973, the business relocated to Stamford CT and the founder, Greg Ackley, began developing a mobile refinishing process to easily service customers’ needs.

It eventually transitioned away from furniture to specialize in refinishing kitchen cabinets and started expanding operations. By the early 1980s, the company was refinishing up to 125 kitchens per year with 6 full-time employees. With refurbishing in full swing, we started offering customers the option of wood refacing, having completed over 1,300 kitchen cabinet refinishing projects.

rise of resurfacing & Cabinet refacing in Connecticut

Near the late 1980s, cabinet refacing became the latest kitchen home improvement trend and Greg began to focus solely on perfecting his refacing techniques. Recognizing the value in saving the existing cabinet foundation, Greg began to develop the current proprietary process of solid wood face frame applications in 1999.

With 10 years of successfully transforming kitchen cabinets with his process, Scott (Greg’s son), joined the company in 2009 to further develop the IT and business operations. Kim Kelly joined the “Ackley Dream Team” in 2012 as office manager to carry out the administration and marketing initiatives. To date, Ackley Cabinet continues to steadily grow, and we look forward to bringing our unique solution to a wider audience.

We now proudly serve areas throughout Fairfield and Westchester Counties including Ridgefield, Greenwich, Stamford, Westport, Mahopac, Trumbull, Darien, New Canaan, Chappaqua, South Salem and Bedford.
